Rushanara Ali MP Statement on Grenfell's Fourth Anniversary

Today marks the fourth anniversary of the Grenfell Tower disaster. During the night of 14 June 2017, a fire broke out in the 24-story tower block and 72 people were killed.

Rushanara Ali MP for Bethnal Green and Bow said:

“Four years ago today, 72 people tragically lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower disaster. Today, my thoughts are with the families and community they left behind. Up and down the country, including in my constituency, many thousands of people are still living in a state of constant fear because the Government has failed to remove cladding from their homes.  Now, more than ever, we must redouble our efforts to ensure such a tragedy never occurs again and all buildings that have cladding or other fire risks are made safe.
