Rushanara Ali MP speaks in Covid-19 Debate

On 2 November Rushanara Ali MP spoke in a general debate on Covid-19.

During the debate she questioned the Health Secretary about the £12 billion that has been spent on Serco’s failing test and trace system. Rushanara urged the Government to learn from its mistakes and make resources available to local authorities so that they can carry out effective testing and contact tracing.

She also raised the issue of the Government's report on the disparities in the risk and outcomes of Covid. Despite this being published months ago, no action plan has been published. She said that the Government is failing to learn any lessons and repeating a similar pattern of higher death rates among BAME communities.
