Rushanara Ali MP statement on Clarion’s announcement on decanting of Clare House

On 29 September, Clarion housing association informed the 120 households of Clare House in Bow that they will have to move out of the block into temporary accommodation before they are found new permanent housing.

Rushanara Ali MP said:

"I am very concerned about the situation with Clare House, where residents are to be moved out of the Clarion tower block due to safety concerns. My thoughts are with those residents. This is an incredibly distressing situation for them. It is unacceptable that residents received little warning of this decision. Many are, quite rightly, very anxious about their housing situation. I was only notified of the matter yesterday without warning of the immediate timescale.

I will be meeting with Clare House residents later this week, and I have demanded an urgent meeting with Clarion’s Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer."
