On 4 April 2020 Sir Keir Starmer was elected as the new leader of the Labour Party. 

Rushanara Ali MP said:

We desperately need a Labour government. More than ever, the coronavirus pandemic has shown the huge gaps in our healthcare and social welfare system after a decade of Tory austerity. We need to protect our public services, support our communities and our economy through this crisis and beyond."
