In Prime Minister’s Questions, Rushanara Ali MP demanded why the Prime Minister failed to put a stop to the cuts to Personal Independence Payments for disabled people sooner, given the Government’s drastic U-turn since announcing this policy in last week’s Budget. Personal Independence Payments allow disabled people to buy essential living expenses like walking sticks or wheelchairs and these cuts would have affected nearly 400,000 of the country’s most vulnerable people who could have lost out on £3,500 a year.

London’s Air Ambulance held a press launch at the Royal London Hospital to celebrate the addition of a second helicopter to the service. The London Air Ambulance team treated almost 2000 critically injured patients on the streets of London in 2015. The introduction of a second helicopter will mean London Air Ambulance can reach up to a further 400 patients by air each year.

London’s Air Ambulance delivers innovative life-saving procedures outside London’s hospitals when responding to a wide range of different emergencies. Every day, on average, the service treats 6 seriously injured people in London. London’s Air Ambulance has highly trained paramedics who constantly monitor 4,500 daily ‘999’ calls, as they actively look for the critically injured people in need of their help.

Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, and campaigners from the ‘Save Our Surgeries’ campaign handed in a 20,000-strong petition to 10 Downing Street today. The campaign was set up by GPs and patients in response to Government plans to phase out funding known as the 'minimum practice income guarantee' (MPIG) for GP surgeries across the UK.

On Saturday, Bethnal Green and Bow MP, Rushanara Ali joined forces with hundreds of residents from across three neighbouring boroughs in a street rally organised by a campaign to save 22 GP practices across Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Newham which have been earmarked for closure due to government changes to funding. The rally also marked the 66th anniversary of the NHS.  Five GP surgeries face closure in Tower Hamlets and 98 across the country.

Rushanara Ali challenged David Cameron over his record on local GPs surgeries and the NHS in Tower Hamlets at this week’s Prime Minister’s Questions.

Speaking at an event organised by APASENTH, a charity providing social and community services in East London, Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow, called on the Government to urgently transform care and support services.

On 1 December, Rushanara Ali, Member of Parliament for Bethnal Green and Bow, will mark World AIDS Day by showing her support for people living with the virus. Despite the growing number of people with HIV, public knowledge and awareness of the virus is declining.

Rushanara Ali MP has praised the work of NHS maternity staff during a recent visit to the maternity unit at the Royal London Hospital.

Bethnal Green and Bow MP, Rushanara Ali today co-hosted a parliamentary reception to celebrate the work of London's Air Ambulance service where she met the doctors and paramedics from the service.  The reception followed a debate earlier this week on VAT on air ambulance fuel payments.
