Shadow Education Minister, Rushanara Ali, MP for Bethnal Green and Bow celebrated with local students at Tower Hamlets College as they received their A level results. 

Rushanara Ali MP grilled the Government on its failure to address rising levels of child poverty, warning that its inaction threatened the potential of a whole generation of young people.

Rushanara Ali MP has expressed her strong support for a team from Stepney Green School competing in the final rounds of the Premier League Enterprise Challenge. She met the young people during a visit to Stepney Green School in her constituency.

Rushanara Ali MP for Bethnal Green and Bow and Shadow Education Minister today grilled the Prime Minister on the unacceptable levels of youth unemployment in Britain.

During the opening exchanges of the House of Commons debate on the Queen’s Speech, local MP Rushanara Ali warned the Prime Minister that he was failing to take any action to tackle the alarming increase in child poverty under his Government.

Rushanara Ali MP has welcomed the High Court ruling which will enable existing students at London Metropolitan University with full immigration status to continue their studies at the university.

This week, Rushanara Ali MP for Bethnal Green and Bow spoke in the House of Commons in a debate on the Finance Bill. Rushanara focused on the rising levels of youth unemployment in her constituency and the UK as well as the Government's failure to take action to address this.   She also spoke in support of a Labour amendment to introduce a tax on bankers' bonuses to fund a "Real Jobs Guarantee" to help young people who have been long-term unemployed into work.

Leader of the Labour Party, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP and Rushanara Ali MP visited Bethnal Green Academy this morning to talk to teachers, staff and students.  They discussed the Shoreditch Citizens' campaign for a Living Wage, opportunities for young people in Tower Hamlets, and the challenges facing schools and colleges in Tower Hamlets and across the country.
