Today we celebrate women. We celebrate you as you do your job, as you make new discoveries, as you love your families, as you champion your communities, as you lead teams and invest in your passions.
This year my thoughts are particularly with women in Ukraine. The women who are fighting for their country, getting people to safety and staying behind to provide vital services. Our support is with you. We stand with you.
International Women’s Day also inspires us to keep fighting for equality. The last year has rightly highlighted the unsafe state of our streets for women. There has been a national demand for change and yet in the year since Sarah Everard and Sabina Nessa were killed, more women have been murdered at the hands of men than the year before. We must redouble our efforts to tackle violence against women here at home and across the world.
