On 15 October it was announced that London will move into Tier 2 Covid restrictions from midnight on Friday 16 October.

Rushanara Ali MP said: 

“I’ve been calling for additional measures for some time and I'm glad these additional restrictions have now been put in place. The Government needs to act quickly to stem the flow of the virus before it spirals out of control. 

I will continue to call on the Government to follow the scientific advice and bring in a national ‘circuit-break’ lockdown to curb the rise in cases. To beat this virus, we need the ‘world-beating’ Test and Trace system that Boris Johnson promised, not the shambolic system we have now.

The Government must provide proper economic support to all those affected and must work closely with local leaders to save lives and livelihoods."
