On 16 June, the Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that the Foreign Office (FCO) and Department for International Development (DFID) will be merged.
Rushanara Ali MP said:
"Abolishing the Department for International Development is a huge distraction from the health and jobs crisis in our country. DFID does a fantastic job to aid the world’s poorest people. This diminishes the UK in the world and damages our ability to tackle global poverty."
