Rushanara Ali MP questions Lex Greensill on the Treasury Select Committee

On Monday 11 May, Rushanara Ali MP questioned Lex Greensill, as he appeared in front of the Treasury Select Committee.

Rushanara asked him of the estimated cost to the taxpayer from his financial firm going into administration. Greensill claimed there would be no loss to the taxpayer, despite reports that the costs would amount to £3-5 billion, including £1 billion in direct costs.

Rushanara also asked whether his financial firm was a ponzi scheme, and whether the repeated lobbying from David Cameron on behalf of Greensill had brought the office of Prime Minister into disrepute.
