On Friday 25 January a video circulated on social media showing a man making offensive and racist comments outside Central Foundation Girls’ School.

Rushanara Ali MP said:

I am deeply shocked by this vile footage, and the racist abuse these young students were subject to.

I strongly condemn this attack targeting the Muslim community and urge people to come together to stand united against those who seek to divide our communities.

The police have been made aware of this incident and have assured me that the Safeguarding Investigation Team are conducting an investigation to identify the perpetrator. I have personally written to the borough commander for Hackney and Tower Hamlets to ensure this case is dealt with in a timely manner.
