On 20th April 2022, Rushanara Ali attended the Building Safety Bill debate.

Rushanara urged the government for more transparency and independence in building safety assessments. 

She also highlighted the need for unsafe blocks under 18 meters tall to be provided government assistance, as she believes it is vital that all leaseholders impacted by the building safety crisis are protected.

Alongside her Labour colleague, Clive Betts MP, she also addressed the government to ensure there is investment to improve social housing and the safety of social housing.
