Bethnal Green and Bow MP, Rushanara Ali, met with local residents and market traders at the relaunch of the Roman Road Market, a project lead by Mary Portas.

Rushanara Ali said:

“Roman Road Market is the embodiment of the East End’s way of life. Market traders and locals have run businesses and shopped there for many years. It is fantastic to see that there has been an interest to invest in the market to provide a wider variety of stalls and products to shoppers.

“I was delighted to see so many people making the most of this re-launch. I met many locals at the market who were grateful to Mary Portas for leading this project. The market has a very friendly and vibrant atmosphere and I hope Mary Portas’ relaunch continues to provide locals with a unique experience for many years to come. I congratulate Mary Portas and the Roman Town Team for the successful relaunch and wish them all the best in their efforts to revitalise the Roman Road market.”

The Roman Town Team is a new association established by residents and businesses to help support Roman Road in accomplishing economic success and rejuvenate the market for locals and traders.
