Rushanara Ali MP's Statement on Manchester Terrorist Attack

On 22nd May 2017 a terrorist attack took place at the Manchester Arena. Twenty-three adults and children were killed and 250 were injured, 59 taken to hospital, and 23 classified as critically injured.

Rushanara Ali said:

"My thoughts and prayers this morning are with the all those in Manchester who were victims of last night's terrorist attack.

Targeting a music concert filled with young people and children is a despicable and cowardly act and I commend the heroic work and professionalism of the region's emergency services in responding to last night's incident.

At both a national and local level political campaigning for the General Election will be suspended until further notice. In the coming days, following an attack such as last night, we must be vigilant against those who try to exploit public anxieties. We must reassure everyone that our communities will remain united against those who seek to destroy our way of life."
