Sadiq Khan, MP for Tooting, has been selected as the Labour Candidate running for Mayor of London in the election in May 2016.

Rushanara said: 

“I am delighted that Sadiq Khan MP has been selected as the Labour candidate to stand for Mayor of London. I backed Sadiq because he has the background, ideas and determination to lead our City, and I would like to thank all those people both in Bethnal Green and Bow and across London who joined me in supporting him in such strong numbers.

“Our focus must now turn to the contest for City Hall next May. I am looking forward to working with Labour supporters from across all the campaigns as we come together to get Sadiq elected as our Labour Mayor in 2016.”
