Rushanara Ali MP attends Boishakhi Mela 2016

On 31 July Rushanara joined Mayor John Biggs, local Councillors and thousands of Tower Hamlets residents in Weavers Fields for the Boishakhi Mela 2016. The Mela is a celebration of Bangla New Year, and is now the largest Bengali festival outside Bangladesh, attracting over 100,000 people from all over the country.

Rushanara Ali MP attacks Government’s education funding plans

In the fifth day of debate on the Queen's Speech in the House of Commons MPs debated aspects of the speech relating to education, skills and training. The Prime Minister claimed the Queen’s Speech has bold reforms to remove all barriers to opportunity for our young people by measures such as the new Education for All Bill and the new Universities Bill.
