Rushanara Ali MP on Why she is Backing Yvette Cooper MP for Labour Leader

Yvette Cooper, Andy Burnham, Jeremy Corbyn and Liz Kendall are running to become the new leader of the Labour Party. Rushanara is supporting Yvette.

Rushanara said:

"Yvette has the talent, determination and dynamism that are required to refresh our party. Yvette has a vast wealth of experience both in government and opposition and knows what is needed to rebuild our Labour movement so that once again we can win.

She was born into a Labour family, she's the granddaughter of a miner, the daughter of a trade unionist, and was raised believing in the strength of her community and the importance of its values. As our party's future leader, Yvette is determined to make sure those Labour values fit into a new set of solutions that tackle our country's problems, including helping young people find quality jobs. Crucially Yvette is able to appeal to people from all backgrounds.

It is time for Labour to elect its first female leader and I hope Britain's first female Labour Prime Minister. If you are eligible to vote, I urge you to consider voting for Yvette as your first choice on your ballot."
