Rushanara Ali MP joins local residents to celebrate 25 years of the Jagonari Women’s Centre

Last week, Bethnal Green and Bow MP, Rushanara Ali, joined local residents to celebrate the work the Jagonari Centre has been providing to generations of women, families and children since its creation 25 years ago. To mark its 25th anniversary, the Jagonari Centre celebrated its achievements by showcasing its long history of making a difference to individuals, families and communities.

Rushanara Ali said:

“The Jagonari Centre has provided crucial support to many local women living in my constituency. I was delighted to take part in celebrating the achievements of the Jagonari Centre and recognising the hard work of all those who have invested their time to help make a difference to the lives of thousands of women and their families in the area.

“I was truly inspired by the stories of women whose lives have been transformed with the help of the Jagonari Centre’s hard work. It was fantastic to see that the Jagonari Centre is encouraging so many women achieve their potential and make meaningful choices. Tower Hamlets has one of the highest levels of child poverty in the country and organisations such as the Jagonari have been vital in helping break down the barriers of poverty for vulnerable women and their children.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all those at the Jagonari Centre for the hard work they have carried out over the last 25 years and wish everyone at the Centre my warmest wishes for the future.”
