Rushanara Ali MP praises staff during visit to local maternity unit

Rushanara Ali MP has praised the work of NHS maternity staff during a recent visit to the maternity unit at the Royal London Hospital.

During the visit, Rushanara met with managers, maternity staff, and women and partners on maternity wards. She paid tribute to the success of the unit and the diligence of the staff who have worked hard to improve the service over recent years.

Rushanara said:

“This unit is a testament to the great work being done at the Royal London and Barts Hospital - a successful, modern unit staffed by people who care passionately about supporting women during childbirth and maintaining the highest possible standards throughout the unit. I was pleased to see that the Hospital has taken seriously concerns expressed by my constituents in recent years about the quality of service and there is evidently now a much greater focus on engaging users and responding to their feedback.

I am proud of the service this unit offers and of the staff who do so much good work here.  Great progress has been made at this maternity unit in recent years and we must ensure that these improvements aren’t lost as a result of the Tory-led Government’s plans for the NHS and real-terms cuts to NHS spending.”
