Rushanara Ali MP condemns the vandalism of the Labour Party Offices in Bethnal Green

On 5 July 2016, the Labour Party offices in Bethnal Green were vandalised.

Rushanara Ali MP said:

"I condemn the damage done to our office by a senseless act of vandalism. It is completely unacceptable. We have reported the matter to the police and it is being investigated. I am grateful to local Labour Party volunteers for working swiftly to repair the damage.

"The building is used as a meeting point to gather and support our local community. They must be allowed to go about their work free from fear or intimidation.

"I recognise that there are passionate debates taking place in the Labour party, with rallies and meetings taking place all over the country. I appeal for calm, rational and peaceful debates at these gatherings. There should be no place for threatening or abusive behaviour, in our party or anywhere else."
