On Monday 18 May during an urgent statement in the chamber on the covid-19 response, I raised the issue of delays in covid-19 test results with the Health Secretary.

Rushanara Ali MP said: 

"The Health Secretary was unable to answer at the time, but assured me that he would write to me with an answer. I have still not received a response, and have written to him. 

It is vital that test results are turned around as quickly as possible, within a 24-hour window, as delays in results could lead to many more key workers and their families contracting the virus, particularly if the person tested displays no symptoms.

To tackle the coronavirus pandemic, it is essential that there are no delays in receiving test results."
