Rushanara Ali MP joins Labour Leader Ed Miliband MP and Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls MP for keynote speech on banking reform

Bethnal Green and Bow MP, Rushanara Ali, today joined Shadow Business Secretary, Chuka Umunna MP, Shadow Chancellor, Rt Hon Ed Balls MP, and Leader of the Labour Party, Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, as he delivered his speech on banking reforms to an audience at the Co-operative Bank in her constituency.

Rushanara Ali said:

"I was delighted to welcome the Leader of the Labour Party, Ed Miliband, to my constituency today as he set out his clear vision for banking reform including a code of conduct for bankers.  The banks and the finance sector are a vital part of our economy but with small businesses suffering and nearly 3 million unemployed, we need the banks to be responsible members of our society and promote investment. Now is a pivotal time for the banking sector.  The Government must use this opportunity to make the vital reforms that are needed to ensure a responsible system for the future."
